Brit Awards BETTING: Back a BIG winner

Someone traditionally scoops a few? But who?

To win three awards: Leona Lewis (6/1), Take That (10/1)

Of the bands/'artistes' up for more than one award, turf accountants are keeping a particularly close eye on the gruff old men's men in Take That (up for Best Group, Best Album, Best Single, and Best Live Act) and the most beautiful woman ever to have won the third series of X Factor, Leona Lewis (Breakthrough Artist, Best Female, Best Album, Best Single).

Paddy Power have set the odds for Leona going home with three awards at 6/1, and Take That at 10/1. Both great bets.

Take That look the likely Best Group, a prize which traditionally goes hand-in-hand with Best Album (seven of the last ten have), and they have won Best Single more times than any other act (Could it be Magic, 1993; Pray, 1994, Back For Good, 1996; Patience, 2007), so have a great record, and a massive fanbase.

But Lewis is the new big deal. Her single - Bleeding Love - was the biggest selling of 2007, and with rumours abound that she's being groomed to pulverise the American market, industry types might want to send her off to the land of cheeseburger and chips with a trolley-full of awards to impress her new hosts with. Even without the Best Album, she could be good for three (Female, Single, Breakthrough?) and so could Take That (Group, Album, Live?).
